Hundred Vision’s digital vision therapy platform AmblyoPlay has been clinically proven to improve vision, depth perception, eye movement, and motor coordination in children with amblyopia, according to a newly published peer-reviewed clinical study.
The six-month controlled trial was conducted at Istanbul Medipol University and evaluated children aged 7 to 13 with anisometropic amblyopia, one of the most common forms of lazy eye.
Clinically Proven Digital Therapy for Amblyopia
AmblyoPlay is a gamified, app-based vision therapy system that uses dichoptic training to stimulate both eyes at the same time. Unlike traditional patching, which only treats one eye, AmblyoPlay trains binocular vision, eye movement, and visual-motor coordination through engaging therapeutic games.
Children in the study completed daily home-based therapy over six months while a control group received no digital treatment.
Significant Improvements in Vision and Motor Performance
The results showed strong improvements in all treated children:
- Visual acuity improved by about 1.5 lines on an eye chart
- Depth perception (stereopsis) improved from 300 arcsec to 45 arcsec
- Eye-movement control became faster and more accurate
- Motor coordination and balance improved significantly
- Meanwhile no improvement was observed in the untreated control group
These findings confirm that AmblyoPlay delivers measurable, real-world clinical benefits.
A New Standard for Treating Lazy Eye
Amblyopia is caused by the brain suppressing one eye, often due to unequal vision between the eyes. Traditional treatments such as patching often struggle with compliance and do not restore binocular vision. AmblyoPlay addresses this by training both eyes and the brain together, improving not only eyesight but also binocular function and motor skills.
A Validated Digital Therapy Used Worldwide
Launched in 2018, AmblyoPlay is already used by tens of thousands of families globally. With the publication of this first peer-reviewed clinical trial, it is now officially recognized as a clinically validated digital therapy for amblyopia.
